Goose Breeds we have on our farm

All of our geese are friendly, hearty fowl well suited for Alberta's winter weather. The great thing about geese is that they don't require much to raise. They are so easy!! A pool, bucket of water, food, and treats!!  Straw bedding in the winter and a building to keep out of the wind on really cold days. They must be locked up at night to keep them safe from predators! They are a great addition to your farm if you are looking for friends for your ducks, or guardians to deter predators such as hawks from getting your feathered friends!

Brown African

The African goose is derived from the wild swan goose. They lay 20-40 extra large eggs per year normally. Mine seem to lay more like 60-70 on average. They are more vocal than my other geese, but what I love about them is that they warn my other birds of predators, chase my birds into shelter if there's a predator, and show aggression to hawks, etc. keeping my birds safe.

White African

The White African goose is very rare. They are very good-natured and come from the White Swan. They are very good layers, they lay approximately 35-45 large eggs per year. They are also very long-lived birds and will lay for many years, if well taken care of. These are hard to hatch so we are only booking African geese right now and if we get some white we will let you know when they hatch!

New to country life, we had lots of questions, but Tracey didn’t hesitate to help. The 2 African geese we got from Tracey are healthy, vibrant and oh so fun! Be sure to keep her info handy because you will soon be wanting to add more of her delightful babies like we did.

Sandy

I have been purchasing duck, turkey, and goose eggs from New Beginnings Poultry & Duck for a number of years. On many occasions, I toured the farm and am always beyond impressed with how well the birds are taken care of and how clean everything is kept. Tracey is incredibly knowledgeable and able to answer any questions that I have had. I have never had a problem with any of the eggs I have purchased. It is always a great day when I know I am headed her way to pick up eggs.
